Life is Going Great!
We are so happy it's spring. It's amazing how much of a difference the sun makes!
Luke is doing tons better. He is progressing and is catching up quite a bit. We still have a little way to go until he is all caught up, but we are so proud of how well he is doing. He is reaching for toys and mimicking sounds and is gaining strength in his arms. And has now deduced that if he makes cute singing sounds we will pick him up. He has also discovered his ability to stick both of his fists in his mouth at the same time, this is quite amazing to see. He is also getting better on pushing up on his arms. Although tummy time is still the most rough part of our day. Below is a picture of us working on our tummy time with the boppy.
It is great that summer is here, Luke and I have started taking walks, below was his very first walk. We took it with aunt Kim, when she came to Provo for her tour of BYU. he loved playing with his aunt. It was so fun to have her here, she came the week of Andrew's finals so it was also nice to have the extra help.
The weather is great, and Andrew and I have taken up gardening our 3 little flower beds outside the front of the house. Andrew is starting his first summer term and is only taking one class. This is wonderful. It means we have a lot more time to spend together.
This is Luke playing in his saucer that was given to him by his Grandmother Hill. It has really helped him with his coordination he has figured out how to spin one of the toys. And is mesmorized by anything that has a face on it. He loves faces, it doesn't matter if it is drawn on a toy or one in real life. Maybe he will be our little people person.
But again we are so sorry that we can not blog more often, our internet is still few and far between. But we love you all and hope you are all doing so well. Thank you so much for your calls and prayers!

Times at the Hill House
Wonderful News…
I laid him down on his stomach and he pushed up on his elbows to see the doctor. (He had never done it before and has not done it since) but it made me feel so much better to know he could.
They tested his thyroid and said it is right on track. I am not sure this is accurate because the doctor in the hospital (when he had RSV) said it was at a concerning level. But hey, if he healed in a week I will take it! We are going to keep checking up on it. The reason he was fussy… Bad Ear Infection. Now this might not seem like good news . But I am so excited it is something so simple and fixable.
They wanted to check up on Luke’s brain again… good news… they can use the same catscan, and MRI that we had done in Dec. They looked them over again and still feel that everything looks great.
Good News (but news that means more tests)…
Luke has moderate head flattening on the back of his head. This can be caused for to different reasons. Premature closing of the suchers in the scull (this can stunt the brain growth), or positioning. Positioning simply means their head s flattening because they lay on that side, that’s what Luke has. Luke’s problem is caused by him favoring his right side. When ever he is lying down he wants to lay on his right side. Well we went to Primary Children’s on Wed and found out that he is favoring this side because he has a condition called torticalus. (The spelling might be wrong) But this means that one of the tendons on one side of his neck is tighter than the other, causing him to favor one side. So we start going to Physical Therapy tomorrow. I am excited. I think it will be good. We are hoping that with the physical therapy and repositioning therapy that he won’t have to wear a helmet to reshape his head!!
The lazy eye... We have our appointment with the pediatric ophthalmologist on the 15. The Doctor we went to for his torticalus said that a lazy eye is very normal in babies with this condition. They get it because they lay on one side so much they focus more out of that eye. I don’t really understand, but most seem to think that all he will need is a eye patch. RRRRRRRRRrrrrr Pirate Luke.
They requested his records from all of his other doctors and they are still concerned about two previous conditions. They still have a concern with some of his metabolic acids so they are repeating those tests.
They also are also still slightly concerned about how his brain is doing so we will be going back to Primary Children’s sometime soon to repeat the EEG. It will be good to see if everything is better there.
So that’s been the buzz here. We go in for therapy and the metabolic test tomorrow and have our appointment with our doctor on Wed. I have to admit at first I was having a hard time with everything. I think every mother wants their baby to be perfect and when that doesn’t happen it breaks your heart. And you worry, a lot about everythingJ... but it’s getting better. As we go into all of these specialists, I look around the waiting rooms and thank my father in heaven that I have such a healthy little boy! So we will have to keep on top of things until we find out what we need to do to help him grow and develop. But I truly feel that even though it might be a rough couple of years that Luke will be just fine in the long run. We are so grateful for our families for all of their help. Plus, I am learning how to be a better mom daily and I am happy and I wouldn’t trade my new mommy status for anything!!!!
I hope everyone is doing well. We don’t have internet very often so it is difficult for me check blogs but I will do my best to keep everyone updated on our lives. It’s such a fun and exciting time of life. Its fun to think about all the changes coming when Andrew graduates, we will be moving again in December and I am excited to see were we end up! Oh the possibilities!!! J
