Dear Luke

Dear Luke,
Sometimes I underestimate you. Sometimes I forget how lucky I am that you are my son. Today was the last day of school and I visited your class. I was amazed at how much you have grown, how independent you have become. I think sometimes I forget what a special little kid you are. Every where you go people comment on what a wonderful boy you are. That you have such a happy, pleasant and loving disposition. You are a little ray of light. I forget how much you love people and how loved you are by others.
Sometimes I forget how patient you are. I forget that you try so patiently to speak to me and although I can't understand you, you quietly take me by the hand and show me. I am sorry I am not always as patient with you as you are with me.
Sometimes I forget how brave you are. You are so brave to try new things. Things that don't feel good but you trust and are brave enough to try. Thank you for trusting me, that even though these things don't feel good now that they will help you.
Sometimes I forget how much you know. You are so smart. I was so so proud of you today. I love you. I will remember and do more. I promise.
I love you buddy,
Mommy

P.S. You rocked your first year of preschool. :-)

Today's Goodbyes
Miss Jamie has been so wonderful for you. You have learned more than I could have ever imagined. She loves you so much!"Grandpa Chuck"

AL-Pal

This is my best friend Alli. I know many of you who read my blog don't know her but she is basically my hero.

A little over two years ago I did a series of posts about my best friend Alli and her adorable little boy Grant. Post#1 and Post #2. Grant was born Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and is an absolutely amazing little guy. He has had multiple surgeries and procedures and has come through everything like a champ. But in a little less than a week he is entering the hospital for possibly his most important surgery, The Fontan. It's a surgery that allows one side of his heart to pump the blood for his entire body. Please keep them in your prayers this coming week, I know this is a very exciting and scary time for their whole family.Pardon the very pregnant picture but it is the only one I had with Grant and I.
If you would like to follow updates of Grant's condition, she has beautifully chronicled Grant's journey at her blog, http://grantmeaheart.blogspot.com/. I can't express how much I love this little family. Ally spends everyday caring for this phenomenal little boy, she is one of the most selfless people I have ever known. I love her!

Best of Luck this week Alli, Kyle and Grant.
You will be in our thoughts and prayers!

Also,
During Grant's pre-surgery heart cath a few weeks ago, Kyle and Alli got a taste of what recovery might be like with this next operation and found surgery with a toddler is very different than surgery with a baby. This is when my friend Jane got an idea. She wanted to do something special for Alli and Grant, something to let her know that they are loved and supported. So we came up with the idea of setting up a PayPal account where others can go to contribute to a gift for Grant. An iPad is something impractical that they would never buy for themselves but we could give them. It's something that could really change the type of recovery Grant has. It is something that Alli's friends could get for her to let her, Grant and Kyle know that we are thinking about them and are there for them and possibly also raise a little bit of money to help with Grant's medical expenses. We set up a link to the PayPal account on her blog.

Mothers Day Pictures

We tried to take some pictures of the boys for Mothers Day cards. The process overall was mostly unsuccessful. But Luke had lots of fun hitting Clark in the head with a stick and the pictures we got were definitely entertaining. So after a while we gave up on getting the perfect picture of the two of them together and just played outside.

Visiting Grandpa Great

Saturday we took a little trip up to Salt Lake to visit Grandpa Great. Clark is named after Andrew's Grandpa Cannon and we wanted to take advantage of the beautiful day and visit him.Luke had fun visiting Grandpa Great too. He got to sit on Grandpa's lap and go up and down in his chair. And Grandpa let him sit in his other very cool chair all by himself. Luke thought he was hot stuff.Amazing day, I don't know why we haven't done it sooner. We plan on going back very soon.
We love you Grandpa Great!
